If you are thinking of using your home as a short-term rental, I have several recommendations. Of course, partner with a well-reputed property manager. But also, work with them initially to prepare your home to function as a good rental property. Before purchasing anything or making changes, seek their advice. It will save you money.
I mistakenly started by hiring an interior designer to make it attractive. However, what a short-stay rental management company needs to manage your home and what an interior designer does to make it attractive can be very different. I could have saved money if I had worked with Alexandra before involving my interior designer since some of the choices I made were not ideal for a guest house. For example, top-down bottom-up blinds are more functional as they allow light into a space while still providing privacy. Fernwood Circle is a top-notch local-only company providing thoughtful guest services.

On short notice our family decided to leave for Florida for the Winter and Spring and Alexandra and John stepped in and took great care of our home while we were away. They helped with additional furnishings that were needed so that the home could be rented to short term and extended stay clients during our time away. Over time our plans changed and we decided to sell our house and Alexandra and John were super flexible and helped us by working with our realtor and other professionals that were involved in the sale why we were still out of state.

Our family went overseas on a 5-month sabbatical, and we had to make plans for our Corvallis home. We worked with the local Windermere Property Management agency thinking that getting a family to rent our home for 5-months would be the best approach. After two months with no potential clients we looked for other options. On short notice, Alexandra was able to prepare and market the house as a short-stay and extended stay vacation rental. We were very impressed with the level of service we received! Every logistical detail was handled, and in fact she went out of her way to manage any issues that arose.
